Kenyans are experiencing food insecurity due to high cost of food products such as maize, which is the main stable food. Government is trying to solve this food problems which as become a challenge across the country. Agriculture Cabinet secretary Peter Munya had ealier informed kenyans that they will reduce the flour price by suspending all levies imposed on imported.
According to KTN News, Maize Millers Association had claimed that the prices will continue rising in the coming days for a lack of local stocks and tightening supply from regional imports even after the government suspended levies. They are warning Kenyans to be ready for hard times ahead, which could lead to an increase in the price. Millers Association has earlier claimed that the suspension will slightly change the price for only sh2 per 2 kg. Millers association claimed that these will be the highest prices of maize flour to have been witnessed in Kenya’s history and the consumers to expect the price to further increase in coming days.
