KRA Issues a Stern Directive

Kenya is one of the leading importers of electronics and textiles from distinguished world destinations, remarkably from Japan, China, Germany and Mexico.

With these myriad number imports arriving in Kenya either through air or water everyother day, disseminating the imports to the target group/individual becomes tiresome without proper guidelines, rules and procures.

The Kenya Revenue Authority has therefore released a series of guidelines that ought to be followed by every importer in his quest to acquire his imported goods.

Embodied in these guidelines are documents that the importer must avail at the port while seeking to acquire his or her goods. They include: import declaration form, permits/license where application, proof of transaction value including permit/license, certificate of conformity, exemption/waiver letters where applicable, imports entry/customs declaration, mandatory transaction documents (customs) and a licensed customs clearing agent.

To avoid any delays at the port and unnecessary confrontations with the port management, or any other concerned authority, conform to the Kenya Revenue Authority's directice. It is worth noting that the directive cuts across all imports and not just electronics and textiles.
