Just In: Gov't Tells Kenyans Listed on CRB To Pay All Loan Dues By This Day

Kenyans listed on the Credit Reference Bureau (CRB) have been handed a major announcement from the government of Kenya through the Central Bank of Kenya concerning mobile loans.

As stated by the CBK boss boss Dr Patrick Njoroge, all Kenyans with pending arrears with the mobile lending platforms have been asked to pay their dues on or before May 31st, 2023. This goes to those Kenyans who had violated the lending terms and conditions and were listed on CRB for further action.

Mr Njoroge noted that once the said loan dues are repaid off, about 4.2 million Kenyans will officially be delisted from the Reference Bureau. This will consequently result to a deferment of loans worth Ksh 30 billion.

The announcement has come just weeks after President William Ruto met with the CRB stakeholders and agreed to delist Kenyans from the platform so that they can easily access loans to install businesses across the country. With the information from CBK, it's clear to note that there's quite a great number of Kenyans who can't access loans as at now.
