The government through Cabinet Secretary of Trade, Investment, and Industry Moses Kuria announces the new prices for Maize, Sugar, and Cooking Oil. The Cabinet Secretary announces the reduction of the three items on Sunday, the 20th of November 2022.
Perhaps, President William Ruto promised Kenyans under the Hustler Nation manifesto to reduce the cost of living for Kenyans. Kenyans have been facing a high cost of living for the past couple of years and President Ruto's government pledged to solve the issue.

From the reports, Moses Kuria in his statement said that the Maize prices have dropped from Ksh5,600 to be sold at Ksh4,900 per 90 Kilograms showing a depreciation of Ksh700.
The Trade Cabinet Secretary further noted that sugar prices have dropped by 18%. The report says that 50kg of sugar has dropped from Ksh7,200 to Ksh5,800.
Furthermore, he added that in the last couple of days the edible oil is retailed at Ksh280 per Kilogram from Ksh340.
