In recent years, shopping malls have been slowly piling up in Nairobi and it's outskirts. If you reside near the capital city of kenya, chances you have been to one or more malls are high. Do you know who own this incredible buildings? Well, I will take you through the top 10 biggest malls in Nairobi and tell you who owns them.

1. Two Rivers Mall.

Opened to the public on 14th February, 2017 Two Rivers Mall is the largest shopping centre in East and Central Africa. The mall is located in Gigiri and occupies around 65,000 square meters. The mall was developed by Centum group which is owned by the late Chris Kirubi.

2. The Hub.

The hub is located in Karen and it was opened on February 4, 2016. The mall covers an area of abput  35,077sqm. Billionaire Humphrey Kariuki owns this multi million property.

3. The Waterfront Mall.

This mall is also located in Karen and it is owned by the family of the late businessman Nelson Muguku. This mall is built on about 25,000sqm of land.

4. Salit Centre.

Located in Westlands, Sarit Centre is the oldest shopping mall in the country. Salit Centre is owned by the family of the late Vidhu Shah.

5. Yaya Center.

The family of the late cabinet minister, Nicolas Biwott owns this mall which is located in Hurlingham, Nairobi.

6. Village Market.

Village Market is located along Limuru road and it was built in 1992. The mall covers 46,451sqm and it is owned by the families of Hamed and Mehraz Ehsani.

7. Diamond Plaza.

Billionaire Madatali Chatur owns this property that is located in Parkland. The mall is built on approximately 15,580 square meters of land.

8. Lavington Mall.

Lavington mall is located along James Gichuru Road in Nairobi. John Kinuthia Mukami died in 2019 and left the mall in the hands of his family.

9. Galleria.

Galleria can hold approximately 550 cars and it's estimated worth is well over two billion. The mall is located at the junction of Magadi and it is owned by Trevor Kanja.

10. Kamukunji Gateway Mall.

Last but not least, Kamukunji gateway mall is an eight storey mall in Kamukunji. The mall is owned by former 'mutumba' seller, Nancy Wamaitha.
