Bomet county governor has said 84 metric tonnes of Bomet tea consignment flagged off on 25th June 2021 has been received in the Islamic Republican of Iran.He said this marks the beginning of successful journey in the tea industry for Kenyans and Bomet farmers.
Hillary Barchok said as a tea growing county they seek to build and expand Bomet county trade portfolio by laveraging their competitive advantage especially in agro-processing for their mutual benefit.He said tea is the leading cash crop in Bomet and contribute largely to the GDP, yielding fortunes to their small scale tea growers and as such they place high regard to the bilateral engagement.
Barchok said he was joined by Kenyan ambassador to Iran Hon Joshua Gatimu, Iranian ambassador to Kenya Hon Dr.Jaffer Barmaki,Bomet MCA majority leader Hon Josphat Kirui,Singorwet MCA Hon Alfred Langat,Iran Commerce and Business fraternity and tea farmers representative from Bomet in witnessing the reception of Bomet tea in the Islamic Republican of Iran.
