Perhaps, he revealed that they had raised certificates totalling 900 million shillings for work already done; and the certificates were not houred due to lack of funds held in the National Treasury despite being factored in the budget.
he further said the contractors, like so many others in the country, refused to return to site until the certificates were honoured. He said it has been a difficult time as his colleagues and he himself pushed to have them paid.
He stated that last week, the government released 300 million to them being approximately 30 percent of what is owed. He elaborated that he has met Mr. Huang Wang the Project manager of Stelco corporation in his Karatina office to discuss the timeline for resumption of work.
He said they have agreed to start mobilisation of machinery and equipment, and to resume full time construction in the next two weeks. He further stated that in the meantime, he is following up on the release of the balance to ensure that the works go on uninterrupted.
He concluded by saying that the roads are being funded by public funds appropriated by Parliarment, and will be completed in fullness of time subject to release of exchequer by the National Treasury.
His post attracted several comments from kenyans, Majority of them praised him for the good work he is doing in his Constituency. They further urged him to continue with the same pace since his Political future is so luminous.
