Fuel prices for May skyrocket in Kenya

The Energy & Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has released new maximum retail prices for petroleum products in Kenya. These prices will be in effect from May 15th, 2023 to June 14th, 2023.

In its press release, Kenyans will be forced to dig deeper into their pockets. EPRA has increased the Price of Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene by Kshs3.40 per litre, Kshs6.40 per litre and Kshs15.19 per litre respectively. Therefore the new maximum allowed prices for petroleum products in Nairobi are as follows:

1. Super Petrol increases by Kes 3.40/litre to KES 182.7 per litre

2. Diesel increases by Kes 6.40/litre to KES 168. 40 per litre

3. Kerosene increases by Kes 15.19/litre to KES 161.13 per litre

4. Kerosene & Diesel subsidies have been done away with. .

These new maximum retail prices for petroleum products in Kenya will be in effect from May 15th, 2023 to June 14th, 2023. The prices have been calculated based on the weighted average cost of imported refined petroleum products. It is important to note that these prices include taxes and the subsidy on Diesel and Kerosene has been removed.
