Kisii County: Traders Count Losses After Their Stalls Were Demolished

After kisii traders located at the CBD were issued a seven days notice on 11th March, they suffered demolitions today and immediately started protesting. Among those interviewed was the chair lady of the traders, Jane Moraa who said that they went to talk to the governor after the notice. The governor then revoked the notice. She added how the demolitions have negatively affected them in that those small business owners have no source of income hence can't fend for there families.

Erick Ongeri, the county's deputy director of communications however justified the demolitions saying that the CBD is too congested and disorganized hence relocating the hawkers is necessary. He also added that the demolitions majorly targets those with their kiosks on drainages.

Many counties have though been suffering demolitions best example is the neighboring kisumu county which has affected not just kisumu residents but home owners too. All parties in charge are stating that it is for a good course. Let's hope the affected people will be given ultimate options

Meanwhile, leave your comments below concerning the demolitions.
