Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has bought a shirt from a second-hand clothes (mitumba) vendor for Ksh.50,000.
During the launch of the Hustler Fund on Wednesday at GreenPark in Nairobi, Gachagua was invited by Comedian Chipukeezy to the stage where the vendor had mounted a makeshift clothes stand. After Gachagua selected a bright yellow floral shirt, Chipukeezy asked the trader how much he would sell it to the DP for.
During a light moment Chipukeezy selected one of the mtumba shirts and called DP Rigathi to the podium to fit, the trader said he would sell the shirt for Sh500.I normally sell this shirt for Sh1,000 but since Riggy G is my friend I will sell him at Sh500 only,” the mtumba trader said.
The funds, which are available to individuals, groups, small enterprises and co-operatives will be offered at a one-digit interest rate of 8 per cent per annum.Loans from the Hustlers Fund will be accessible through commercial banks, microfinance institutions, and saccos.
