For a clip that aired in 2011, the duo Matendechere and Musyoka have something to smile about after being made ambassadors of a flour milling company. They will also be featured in a TV advert in the coming days.
What started as a harsh exchange of words between Aron Asiba Matendechere and Musyoka has turned positive after Jahazi Flour Milling Company proposed to them as brand ambassadors following their interview on Bonga na Jalas show by Comedian Jalango.
Matendechere runs a barber shop while Musyoka vends water on a cart in Mukuru kwa Njenga slums.
The duo has appealed to Kenyans who have used their viral clip for commercial purposes to consider sharing the income with them "Don't use my photo or video for free even if it's in a comedy skit, include me and we can share the money," Matendechere.
Kenyan companies have discovered the benefits of using internet sensations to promote their products. The duo's story follows the same path as that of ugali man whose viral videos made him an ambassador of a betting company.
