UPDATES: Good News to Kenyans as Prices of UNGA are expected to reduce by this period

It is a sigh of relief to Kenyans as prices of Maize flour is expected to reduce from over KSh.200 to amount less than ksh.200 in early February.

While giving highlights on what Kenyans should expect ahead of January, Kenya Farmers Association (KFA) director Kipkorir Menjo confirms that amount of the commodity is reported to have increased for the time being in market.

This is because of what he explained as farmers have released their produce to the market after a long harvesting and festive season.

According to business daily prices of 90kg bag of maize have reduced from Ksh.5,000 in December 2022 to ksh.4,800 in January 2023 due to increased supply in the farm gate. This could be a relief to Kenyans after a long period of high priced UNGA since August immediately after His Excellence President Dr. William Ruto ordered retrieval of maize flour subsidies.

While addressing the nation on the same, Agriculture cabinet secretary Mithiki Linturi has assured Kenyans on increased supply in the market as from February since the government has retrieved import duty on importation of maize and Rice.

"We are going to import maize and rice, the projections are so bad that if we do not, our people will die of lack of food," said Agriculture CS Mithiki Linturi.
