Unusual Instruction on Insurance Notice on Private Car Sparks Curiosity in Passenger

An unusual instruction on the Association of Kenyan Insurers (AKI) notice on a private car sparked curiosity in a passenger by the name ‘Nicholas Yongo’ who decided to pose a question on Facebook according to a post by the Motorists Association of Kenya.

“Saw this instruction on some car sticker for a private motor vehicle. What are the implications of not dialing the USSD? Would want to understand and help others Thanks,” Yongo asked.

One follower of the page responded that the activation is not mandatory but it’s meant to help clients confirm if the certificate issued is genuine and legally issued by AKI.

Another Facebook user said “no much repercussions...Try scanning it using the Aki App.”

AKI was established in 1987 as an independent non-profit making consultative and advisory body for insurance industry. One of the roles of the association include raising awareness about insurance to the general public and industry capacity building.
