The Kenya Power and Lighting Company, KPLC, is mandated to supply electricity across the country. The company is enjoying monopolistic market in the country.
The Company is charged with duties such as billing and pricing systems, installation of and distribution of power in new areas and also maintaining power distribution.
However, the Company is faced with various challenges ranging from high billings costs to installations. Currently customers are complaining of various anomalies in the electricity supply. High electricity pricing has made some companies and large businesses migrating from the grid to solar energy as best alternative. Numerous prolonged power outages which are affecting businesses hence making heavy losses.
Regardless of the high costs of electricity in the country, the company is still experiencing losses worth millions.
Another major challenge currently affecting the company is the response to customer querries. Sometimes customers experience very slow responses in solving problems facing them.
