Not Every With a Big Following is an Influencer, Akothee Attacks Social Media Influencers.

Self proclaimed president of single mothers Esther Akoth alias Akothee have attacked Kenyan digital influencers through her social media platforms. The artist claimed that having a big following on social media does not guarantee an individual to be an influencer. On her statement, Akothee stated that one can have even 10 million followers but will not give impact to a brand whilst a person who has 10,000 can give a huge impact on a brand.

Esther Akoth stated that influencing requires a skill and background of marketing: Not everyone can be influencer. The mother of five gave an example with tomato sauce and tissue paper. She said that one cannot advertise a tomato sauce in a toilet she must take note of the area of advertising same way one cannot advertise tissue paper in a kitchen but advertising it in a toilet will make sense more.

Akothee was seconded by her sister Cebbie Koks. She added that companies should have a budget before approaching influencers, and their budget should be attainable. Cebbie went ahead and advised companies to consider proximity and synch before they settle on a digital influencer. She gave an example with an advertiser in Nyeri who cannot advertise fish and get more inquiries as compared to Mama Otis.
