Government protects its citizens from natural calamities such as drought, Earthquake and famine among other environmental hazards through financial support. Kenya is one of the countries who are heavily affected by the prolonged drought following delayed rainfall. Today, World Food Programme offered financial support to help drought strike families.

According to a post shared by Kenyans.co.ke on Twitter, the funds are set to be distributed to households in the drought striken areas. Amongst the counties which will benefit from the Ksh 11,200 cash per month will be from Isiolo, Kitui, Baringo and Tana River.

The funds will be used by the families to buy food among other items which are necessary for fighting drought.
