OPINION: Why Dangote's Visit To Kenya Has Caused Mixed Reactions Among Kenyans

The visit of Aliko Dangote, Africa's Richest man to Kenya has caused a stir as speculations have started spreading that he could be planning to set up one of his businesses in the country. Dangote deals with fertilizers and cement which are Ruto's biggest endovers in his government. Ruto promised to lower the price of fertilizer in the country and increase affordable housing programs which has made people believe that Dangote could be in the deal to set up his companies in the land.

In 2017 the Nigerian tycoon wanted to start the Dangote cement company but later postponed the plan to 2021. The company already has a licence to mine limestone in Kitui county. Dangote was set to construct two factories, one in Nairobi and the other in Mombasa. The business tycoon already has several cement and fertilizer companies in Africa and expanding them is no big deal.
