Mombasa 'Ladies Of The Night' Rejoice Curfew Lift But Have One Demand For The Government

Since President Uhuru Kenyatta lifted the dusk to dawn curfew during Mashujaa Day celebrations, Kenyans have been rejoicing for this major development as several businesses that had stalled will pick up again.

Among those celebrating curfew lift are Mombasa County 'ladies of the night' who had suffered from the directive that was put in place since March 2020.

Speaking to K24 digital news reports, Executive Director Maryline Laini of CBO that champions the rights of hookers lauded the Government directive, but asked for one thing.

"To us, this is good news. We expect to begin earning more especially now that we are headed to the festive season. We have gone without income since March 2020, and we are now ready to resume business full time in order to put food on our table." Laini stated.

"With the removal of the curfew, we expected closing of bars and restaurants not to be affected since these are areas where we get our clients for the revival of the economy. Let government agencies consider bars and hotels to operate full time to allow us to earn a living too." Laina raised the issue that the Government should do away with.

This is a big boost to all business owners as they will compensate what they lost over the year.
