Last week the ministry of agriculture through the agriculture Cs Peter munya declared they are going to extend their support to small holder tea farmers which has made a great joy among the tea farmers. This will enable them increase their revenues as they had previously been somehow neglected yet the small scale is the one producing 60% of tea in Kenya.
Farmers had previously been complaining about inadequate payments for their tea leaves and sometimes even went without receiving any payments at all. This was a great threat to the tea sector as some farmers were almost beginning to give up and uproot the coffee trees from their farms This is just the beginning in terms of improving the economy of Kenya which is controlled by the agricultural sector. It is now up to the farmers to maximize their production and take their harvested tea tea processing factories for sell.
