How County Plans to Avoid Audit Queries

County staff have been urged to ensure adequate documentation of programme they undertake and financial transactions to avoid audit queries.

Deputy Governor H.E Prof Philip Kutima said the Departments still have challenges in documentation an area he added that needs to be addressed seriously.

"We must re-examine the way we do our documentation as Departments. We are very poor in that area. The challenge has persisted and Departments should address that," said Prof Kutima.

Speaking during an exit meeting with auditors led by CPA Fred Abuga, the DG said most audit queries can be delt with if County officers avail documents required by auditors.

The Deputy Governor emphasised on the need for proper utilization of public funds by the Departments.

CECM for Finance, Economic Planning and ICT Dr Beatrice Sabana thanked County staff for the cooperation they accorded the auditors.

Dr Sabana said auditing process was a routine exercise aimed at ensuring that there was transparency and accountability in utilization of public funds.

"I insist on strictly adhering to laid down regulations while conducting financial transactions to avoid audit queries," Dr Sabana reminded staff during the meeting.

County Secretary and Head of Public Service Ambassador CPA James Ochami told staff not to fear auditors but support them by providing information and documents they required.

Mr Abuga thanked the County for the support and cooperation they gave to his team for the period they have been in the County.

"I thank the staff for the cooperation they gave us. Our work is advisory and I am happy my team has managed to undertake it well," he said.

CECMs, Chief Officers among other senior officers were present.
