The prices of a bag of maize have now reduced by over 200 shillings. The price of a 90kg bag of maize now costs 4, 800 after a 200 ksh reduction from 5, 000 in December. The reduction in the maize prices has also seen a reduction in the price of a bale of unga, which now costs 1950 down from 2, 080 during the same period.

Miler have reported an increase in the availability of the commodity in the market, thereby signalling a relief for consumer's ahead of February imports as signalled by government.

KFA director added that farmers could not sell the produce within 72 hrs as ordered by the government since the maize had to be harvested and dried. This takes time. He rubbishes claims of maize hoarding.
