Well, Africa is one of the continents blessed with very rich individuals. When talking about richest men in Africa, names like Aliko Dangote, Nassef Sawiris, Mike Adenuga, Nathan Kirsh and Patrice Motsepe have to be mentioned. The richest man in Africa is currently said to have a net worth of about $12.5 billion. However, women have not been left behind when it comes to gathering wealth. Some of the richest women from Africa include Isabel Dos Santos, Folorunsho Alakija, Ngina Kenyatta, Haija Bola, Shagaya, Wendy Appelbaum and Wendy Ackerman. However, a recent study ranked the richest woman in Africa to be having a net worth of $1 billion.

Well, it might surprise you that the richest man and woman in Africa are both from Nigeria. Aliko Dangote is currently ranked as the richest man in Africa. He is a Nigerian and the founder of Dangote Group which is a large conglomerate operating in several sectors including sugar and cement. The Nigerian international has been married and divorced twice and he currently has three daughters as well as one adopted son. However, Dangote appears number 183 in the list of world's richest men as of 2021.

The richest woman in Africa is said to be Folorunsho Alakija. She is also a Nigerian and her net worth is said to be $1 billion. She is involved in real estate, oil, fashion and printing industries. She is the founder and Group Managing Director of the Rose of Sharon Group. She is also the vice-chairman of Famfa Oli Limited. Folorunsho who is currently 70 years old is married to Adeymo Alakija who is a Nigerian lawyer and also come from one of the richest families in Nigeria. Apart from being a successful business woman, Folorunsho is also a philanthropist. She opened the Rose of Sharon Foundation which helps orphans get scholarship programs. She also gives widows and grants to start businesses.
