"The Fast Developing Kenya" Meet The Ultramodern Mega Billion Road Project In Taita Taveta County

The Bura-Mghange-Mtomwadogodi Road Project.

The construction of the Bura-Mghange-Mtomwadogodi road is underway. The project was first launched by president Uhuru Kenyatta in 2017 but stalled for sometimes due to financial constraints. However, is was relaunched by CS James Macharia in November 2021 and the construction work is progressing well. It is estimated that the construction of the road will cost about KSh 2.2 billion.

The road measures about 54 kilometers and connects areas such as Bura, Mghange, Werugha, Wundanyi, Mbale, Msau and Mtomwadogodi. It will open up the agricultural-rich areas by serving as a major link between Wundanyi and the Voi-Taveta-Holili highway, thus enabling horticulture, fish farmers and dairy farmers to access markets easily.

The road is one of the government's agenda to achieve the vision 2030 goals. It will greatly boost economic activities in the region. Apart from creating employment opportunities, the road will improve trade as many farmers and tour operators will tap into more entrepreneural opportunities.

Taita Taveta county is a tourist destination point. The road will, therefore, be a game changer for the county. Some of the notable tourist attraction sites in Wundanyi are the Kenyatta Caves and Vuria Hills, arguably the most preferred hiking and camping site in the region.
