The Government has suspended all levies imposed on maize imported into the country from around the country. The move is set to reduce to reduce maize flour prices which hit a new record in the last two weeks. Agriculture Cabinet Secretary, Peter Munya says the INITIATIVE will last for 90 days starting from July first until the next harvest. The measure will fasten tracking and clearance of trucks at border points and hence availability of raw materials in flour production by millers
.This would be a relief to Ugali lovers as they would be able to access maize flour at fair prices .''I have suspended all levies on imports for maize and animal feed products effective on 1st July 2022.This initiative is aimed at lowering the cost of maize flour and animal feed in the country for the next 90 days before the next harvest.'' said Munya while speaking at Namanga border.
