Deputy President William Ruto recently broke ground on the construction of a new city in Nairobi, which is expected to cost Sh32 billion. The new city, which is located next to the Central Business District (CBD), is part of the government’s vision to make Nairobi a world-class city. The new city, which is expected to be completed in three years, will feature high-rise buildings and modern amenities such as shopping malls, parks, and recreational facilities. It will also have a number of residential and office blocks, as well as an international convention center.
Ruto said that the new city would help to create jobs for the people of Nairobi, as well as attract more foreign investors. He also said that the city will help to reduce traffic congestion and air pollution in Nairobi by providing alternative transport routes and efficient public transportation services. The Deputy President added that the construction of the new city will create an estimated 40,000 direct and indirect jobs in the construction industry. He said that the project will also create an estimated 15,000 jobs in the hospitality industry.
