Bungoma county is found on the western part of the country. Majority of the residents are the Abaluhya community. The place has warm and wet climate with a serene environment suitable for different communal activities. Residents from these county do carry out farming, poultry keeping and livestock keeping.
The most unique place in this county is the cheptais region. Cheptais region is found at the outskirts of Mount Elgon. This region is known for the planting of different kinds of cash crops such as; onions, tomatoes, maize, beans, carrots, sugar cane among many others. The rate at which this town is growing is very fast as there is no any other place in this county that is growing at that rate.
People from different parts of the country especially the Kikuyu community have invested a lot in this region. The serenity of this region has made this place grow fast as the surplus of these commodities is continuous. This region has been the back born to the growing of other towns in Bungoma such as Bungoma town, Kimilili market and Kamukuywa market as they do buy trading commodities from this region.
