Major requirements for mushroom farming are,
1.A simple house structure
For a start, you need some piece of land on which you will construct a simple house. For example, a eighth of an acre would be adequate to set up a large farm that can produce as much as two tonnes of mushrooms after every two months using shelf frame method. You need to construct a mud-house and a few wooden shelves inside to utilize the vertical space. You can also improvise on locally available materials to minimize construction cost
Substrate is the most important supply you will need. Its the substance on which mushrooms grow. They can either be forest soils, wheat straw, bean straw or millet straw. After getting the substrate, make sure its sterilized as slightest bacterial infection can destroy your entire farm
You will need small bags on which seedlings are prepared awaiting planting. Also, you will require big bags during planting.
As you will discover during farm training courses, mushrooms requires high level of hygiene when handling them before, during and after planting and harvesting. For that reason, you need afew items for proper hygiene which includes hand gloves, methylated spirit, cotton wool, drinking straws and knapsack sprayer
