The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) is a government agency that offers financial assistance to students in higher institutions of learning such as colleges and universities. The board offers loans and bursaries to the students from humble backgrounds to help them quench their education thirst.
Charles Ringera is the current Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of HELB that is based at Anniversary Towers in Nairobi. Mr. Ringera has today called upon the Helb beneficiaries who completed their studies to start repaying their loan. Ringera has added on saying that over 85,000 Kenyans are defaulters and they owe the body over Ksh 9.2 billion.
Ringera's remarks about the Helb defaulters repaying their loans back has sparked a lot of reactions from the Kenyans as they want the board to waive off all their loans from Helb.
In conclusion, it has become a hard task for the Helb beneficiaries especially the youths to start repaying back their loans as a result of unemployement witnessed in all government sectors as a result of high population.
