The absence of any financial institution in a major town in Kenya is something that is quite shocking. This is what residents of a town on the shores of Lake Victoria is like. The town goes by the name of Kendu Bay.

The town is not just one of Homa Bay's key administrative unit but it is also a major fish trading point. The town is known for its wealth of the famous fish that come from Lake Victoria by hard working fishermen.

How financial institutions have not yet captured the opportunity to invest in this town is still a mystery. However, small money institutions like MPESA are readily available to compensate for the lack of banks in the area.
