Kenya Power has always been at the forefront to make sure that they provide the best services to the public. KPLC always notify the public whenever they have planned to interrupt power in different areas. KPLC has therefore issued out a notice indicating that there will be a long power shutdown tomorrow (Friday, March 19, 2021).
The Kenya Power and Lighting Company has also given out an urgent notice to some of its customers. According to the Kenya Power, they urgently need their postpaid customers to quickly pay all their unsettled electricity arrears. The Kenya Power warned that those customers who will fail to comply will have their accounts disconnected. According to the Kenya Power and Lighting Company, they will immediately disconnect all the accounts for those customers who will have not paid the outstanding bills. This notice is set to take effect by the date when the electricity bill is due for each customer. The Kenya Power says that the company will not hesitate to disconnect all the power supplies that will have unsettled bills.
Those customers whose power will be disconnected will be forced to pay fees for another requisite electricity connection for a new account installation. The Kenya Power and Lighting Company also sent a tough warning to the public against those who are engaging in self power reconnection. The Kenya Power said that this is an offense that may attract a minimum fine of up to one million. The offense may also see the culprits suffer a jail term of not less that an year.
The post paid customers can confirm the electricity bills by calling *977#. The customers can also confirm the status of their accounts through 'myPower App'. This is an app which can be downloaded on Google Playstore as well as AppStore. This will help the customers know if their accounts are among those that are susceptible to disconnection.
The KPLC customers can also seek help via the Kenya Power Care social media accounts. These accounts include both Facebook account and Twitter account. In addition to this, the customers can seek assistance from any Kenya Power offices in any area countrywide. KPLC added that they issued this notice as per the Energy Act.
