According to the latest released report by Infotrak survey, the Kakamega County governor and the Council of Governors Chair Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya has been at the top list of the best performing governor for the past four years. Oparanya has been at the top with the highest approval rating against set key perfomance indicators.
The research was based on the county residents' assessment on the performance of their respective elected leaders. The respodents gave their opinions depending on the how the county is insuring a smooth rollout of devolved functions and also how the county government services are available to the residents of the county. The second governor in the list after the Kakamega county governor is Salim Mvuryi from Kwale county. Makuni County Governor Kivutha Kibwana also made it to the list of the top performers in the last four years. Professor Anyang Nyongo and Alfred Mutua took the fourth and fifth place respectively. The above names governors were said to be the best five perfoming governors according to research.
The governor's performance ranking were also based on so many things such as social services, education, water management, agriculture, health, natural resources and environment among other factors. For example under health, the research focused on how easier the residents of the counties are able to access affordable medical services, medical equipment and Medicine.
The list of the top 10 best performing governors in Kenya was closed out by the following outstanding governors; John Lonyangapuo from West Pokot, Jackson Mandago from Uasin Gishu, Muthomi Njuki from Tharaka Nithi , Josephat Nanok from Turkana county and finally Hillary Barchok from Bomet County.
