"Kenyans should prepare" Petroleum Cabinet secretary speaks about fuel prices.

Speaking before the senate Petroleum Cabinet Secretary, John Munyes stated that the price for petroleum products will not reduce. He informed the Senate that the ministry has no powers to reduce the prices of petroleum products.

According to Munyes, the Treasury is to be blamed for this. He accounted that his ministry did not get allocations that are usually used to stabilize the prices. The money was collected but it has not been allocated to the ministry.

The Kenyans will have to face and also embrace the hard times, according to the CS. For now the prices have increased rapidly and by huge amounts.

The following are the prices a Kenyan pays once he buy a petroleum product

Excise duty

Road maintenance levy

Petroleum development levy.

Petroleum regulatory levy

Railway development levy

Anti adulteration levy, for kerosene

These are the levies paid mong others.

This lead to increase of petrol by Ksh 7.58, that of diesel by Ksh 7.94 and kerosene by 12.97.
