Netizens are currently experiencing high cost of living in the country, food prices have gone up, including that of maize flour. A 2 kg of maize flour was retailing at Ksh 90, but now it is over Ksh 200.
The increase in food prices has made it hard for Kenyans earning low income to put food on their tables, and they have been calling out the government to come and rescue them from the crisis.
In a bid to try to reduce the price of maize flour, the cabinet secretary of agriculture Peter Munya said the government has suspended levies imposed on imported maize. And now, millers have said that the plans by the CS will only reduce the price of maize flour by 2 shillings.
Kenyans have not been impressed by the news because the two shillings is too low to reduce the price and is not what they expected.
“Kenya is a funny country, all those media briefings were to reduce flour by Ksh 2,” a comment read.
