According to Kabando Wa Kabando, President William Ruto should take immediate action to benefit citizens during this difficult economic time. Subsidizing essentials like food and medicine would go a long way in providing much needed relief for many Kenyans. This is a great way to directly help people, especially the most vulnerable members of society.
Additionally, if market forces are to favour citizens, there needs to be conducive public policies to foster competition, protect the interests of wananchi, and ultimately provide equitable opportunities for all.
The recent increase in the number of gas stations is certainly a step in the right direction, but now more than ever, more comprehensive policies need to be implemented in order to truly ensure economic growth and stability. Let us not resort to palace populism but instead look to solutions that directly help citizens in need.
