KPLC Announces a Very Long Electricity Blackout on Sunday, Oct 17, Check if You Will be Affected

Electricity bills are expected to rise in this month of October 2021 as a result of a fee increment of various components. The hike in power comes even as the government moves to ensure reduction of the cost of power through reviewing of the power purchase agreements. According to the Energy regulatory authority, the increase in power charges will help in compensating the thermal power generators. This will be a third successive time similar charges are imposed on electricity bills within this year.

Turning to the usual power interruption updates, the Kenya Power and Lighting Company has set a power outage on Sunday, October 17, in different parts of the country. The blackout will be very long since electricity will be interrupted from 9am and restored at 5pm. According to the Kenya Power interruption notice, the set blackout will be as a result of maintenance activities that will be going on in various parts of the country. The residents of the areas below are advised to get braced for a long day without electricity.
