In the latest review the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (Epra) announced that the cost of a litre of petrol will retail at Sh177.3 per litre while that of diesel will be at Sh162. The price of kerosene per litre was announced to be at Sh145.94 in Nairobi. The regulator said it would retain the current prices despite the landing cost of imported fuel decreasing by 0.12 percent for petrol, 4.76 percent for diesel and 5.1 percent for kerosene. Since the prices rose, there have been a small decrease in it despite the efforts by the government.
However, these prices may shoot up in the next months as new revelations has shown that there would be a shortage to be experienced. According to the sources, resavours of big companies of petrol, diesel and kerosene situated in Nairobi have depleted their storage with fear that there would be a shortage in the coming days. This shortage may affect the whole country leading to rise in the prices among stations.
