The Kenya Power and Lighting Company, KC, is a state corporation charged with electricity connection and distribution. The Company is also with duties of maintaining electricity equipment and billing of the electricity for customers.
The Company recently contracted the National Youth Services officials to help in collecting details from households consuming electricity across the country. The officials are required to collect data on meters which will be used for effective electricity management.
However, Kenya power has been rocked with myriad challenges especially on curbing electricity fraud and high billing system. Frequent and prolonged power outages is also a problem facing the lighting company which need to be addressed.
Although the Company is now committed to provide better services to its customers. The Company has tried to simplify its service like buying token units using mobile phones and now has come up with another smart service. Custimers using prepaid meters may not need to visit banking halls or Kenya power offices to pay their bills as they can access the bills through the mobile phones now. The procedure is here below;
