Kericho MCA Exposes What James Finlays Company Has Been Doing For Years

Kericho MCA Paul Chirchir has called out members of the public to boycott the roadblocks erected by multinational company James Finlays Kenya. He says the company has no powers to mount the roadblocks on public roads.

This comes as fight for the control of the tea estates continues. The MCA wants the company which controls the estates to vacate the land and it to be returned to the public. He says the and belongs to the locals who were unfairly evicted by colonial rulers to pave way for the plantation.

"James Finlays Kenya have got no Powers to mount any Roadblocks on Public Roads. They equally have got no powers whatsoever to carry out any search on public or private vehicles using public roads. Whatever they have been doing is illegal and MUST stop.#UkoloniMamboleo," Chirchir said.

James Finlays has since time immemorial been checking vehicles along Kericho -Nakuru highway. The mounted roadblock is not clear what it serves. Those doing the checking are not public workers but the firm's private staff .
