50% Kisii Bhang Potency May Fail The Cannabis Legalization Bid

The petition in court, filed by the Rastafarian community on legalization of bhang in Kenya due to their varied reasons may fail.

According to Former NACADA chairman, Jonh Mututho. The legalization of bhang in Kenya may fail due to the difference in potency.

Potency here refers to the level of acid in the narcotic. According to him Kenyan Bhang, especially from Kisii is of high potency. This makes it difficult to be legalized in Kenya.

Comparing to Bhang cultivated in Europe. Which is mainly cultivated for use in the fiber Industry. It has a lower potency of 0.2%. This makes it to be suitable for cultivation and legalization.

However, in Kenya bhang potency differs from one place to another. This is because of differences in altitude, soils, temperature, and water.

For the petition to successfully pass. The legislation will be based on a solid reason. That is the bhang should be grown for purpose and under well down restrictions.
