Good News to Tea Farmers After DP Rigathi Gachagua Shares Details of his Top Meeting on Wednesday

Tea farmers in the country have every reason to smile as His Excellency the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has promised that talks on reforms in sector are still taking shape.

On Wednesday, he has disclosed that he met with the stakeholders in the tea sector and he met with the leadership of Fair-Trade Africa which is among the top organisations that strengthens the position of farmers and workers in the value chain by securing better deals, contributing to greater sustainable development.

Among those present in the meeting is Igembe South Constituency Member of Parliament Honourable John Paul Mwirigi who is a member of the departmental committee on agriculture in the National Assembly.

After the meeting, he has revealed that they discussed interventions that will be placed in place to ensure that the farmers are the greatest beneficiaries of their hardwork.

"25TH JANUARY, 2023. Continous stakeholder engagement in the tea sector reforms is key to success. I have held consultations with the leadership of Fair-Trade Africa at Harambee House Annex, Nairobi. We discussed various structural interventions for ensuring maximum benefits to tea farmers."DP Rigathi Gachagua.

This is among the top roles that His Excellency the deputy president was given by his boss president William Ruto a few weeks ago.
