From Earning 1,500 Kenyan Shillings to Becoming Parklands High Ridge MCA - Malde Narrates His Story

In an interview conducted by one of the leading media houses in Kenya, High Ridge Member of County Assembly Jayendre Malde shared his journey to politics. Jayendre was born and bred in India but he decided to move to Kenya 35 years ago to try his hand in business with his elder brother who was working in Uganda at the time. However, he did not hit the ground running in business as he first sought employment as a shop manager at a curio shop along Biashara Street in Nairobi. He worked at the shop from 1985 to 1991 earning a monthly salary of 1,500 Kenyan shillings, but this did not dim his passion for opening his business. Later in 1991, he started his curio shop along Muindi Mbingu street, a business venture he runs up to date.[Photos courtesy]

His passion to serve people in a leadership position led him to vie for the MCA position in 2017 and the electorates of High Ridge voted for him overwhelmingly on a Jubilee party ticket. Before venturing into politics, he was heavily involved in a lot of community service in Parklands and it is during this period that he interacted with many High Ridge residents who eventually put their trust in his leadership style by electing him in.[Photo courtesy]
