Kericho Deputy County Commissioner Tobiko Nayioma and Kipkelion West Member of Parliament's PA represented Hon. Hillary Kosgei(Uwezo Fund Patron) during the issuing of Uwezo Fund cheques amounting to two million shillings which were given to twenty five self-help groups who qualified through vetting.
Each self-help group received eighty thousand shillings for development as well as entrepreneurial expansion. About two weeks ago, several poor families across Kipkelion West Sub-County received donations from a Qatar Firm. Each family received two grade cattle along with other grants.
Through the Kericho County Deputy Commissioner, Kipkelion West MP asked the self-help groups to utilize the funds they received in order to upgrade their livelihoods.
Empowering self-help groups is key and provides boost to the economy of the country as well as that of constituencies. From the Kericho Youth officer Zachary Kirui, groups that have never benefited from these government programmes should make efforts once new applications are communicated.
