Jane Wamuyu is the owner of one of the largest mitumba wholesalers in Gikomba which he has built over the years but her success has not been a bed of roses as she has incurred many hurdles over the years. Jane who lost her parents at a tender age survived a harsh upbringing moving from one household to another among her relatives as well as working odd jobs to earn her daily bread.[Photo courtesy]
Jane, a single mother of three kids started her business after her divorce from her husband leaving her as the sole breadwinner. Jane was an active Facebook user when starting out and this helped her acquire most of her customers from the famous 'Kilimani Mums' which boosted her sales enabling her to sustain her business. Over the years, Jane has grown her business currently known as Best Mitumba Bales which has 2 outlets in Gikomba and a third shop at Buruburu.[Photo courtesy]
Jane also revealed that she has been in business for the last 6 years and attributes her success to God's favour, hard work and persistency. She also said that she makes good money from her shops enabling her to live a comfortable life and afford to drive an Audi. She can now afford to ship containers of bales which range in the region of Ksh 4.5 million depending on the grade of the bales.[Photo courtesy]
