The 9th Governor of Central Bank of Kenya Patrick Njoroge has today explained the reason why the new notes get destroyed very fast. This has elicited reaction amongst Kenyans who seem to be less satisfied with his explanation.
The governor said this about the notes;
''The fading occurs owing to how we treat the currency. We are harsh in treating the currency. As a matter of fact, we all know how people are supposed to put them in their wallets. Most of us don't have wallets. We put the Money in other places''
The explanation of placing money in other places points out to People who place money in socks and other places, he said users especially matatu crew, have a habit of folding the bills excessively , keeping them in sweaty parts of the body and in shoes.
