While speaking in an interview yesterday, the Treasury Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yattani stated that the Covid 19 pandemic created 2.5 million poor Kenyan's last year and these comments by the Cabinet Secretary comes at a time when the country is grappling with the effects of the Covid 19 amidst the third wave.
This also comes at a time when the government had taken a loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and there have been a public uproar over the rate at which the government is taking loans in the country.
After making these comments, the CS was countered by several Kenyan's on why he reffered to Kenyan's that way and most people asked what the government was doing to cushion these over 2.5 million poor Kenyan's from Covid 19 effects.
In a study by the World Bank released this year, they stated that half of Kenyas household last year was struggling to out food on the table as a result of the effects of the Covid 19.
