The Kenya Power and Lighting Company has set a very long power interruption on Wednesday, October 6, in many parts of the country. The interruption is expected to affect so many people which will end up leading to a long electricity blackout that will last the whole day.
This comes as the State promises to move with speed and restructure the power supplier in order to reduce the cost of electricity in the country.
Initially, details had emerged that the issues being faced by the Kenya Power and Lighting Company is as a result of the rot in the company. This has been the main cause of the ever growing losses at the the electricity supplying corporation.
The Cabinet Secretary of Interior promised Kenyans that they will ensure that the cost of electricity has gone down following directives by the president.
As a result, details have revealed that an agency will soon be launched to address the problems at the Kenya Power and Lighting Company that are leading to very expensive electricity. The agency is expected to be formed after recommendations were given by a task force that was laid by John Ngumi. Some of the strategies expected to be employed into the review of the cost of power will begin by reviewing the Power Purchasing Agreements.
Turning to the updates on electricity interruptions, the Kenya Power will switch off electricity in the following parts of the country in order to carry out network maintenance. The residents of these areas are expected to get braced for the long power blackout.
