Parliament Approves Motion On Income Tax

The National Assembly has approved a motion seeking to exempt Japanese companies, employees and consultants from paying income tax.

The rationale MPs have used to exempt Japanese companies and employees from paying income tax is that they give us loans which we pay with profit They give us grants which actually come with strings attached They pay income tax in Japan which kenyans in Japan also pay.

This has been passed without any negotiated deal in reciprocity to make sure that also Kenyans in Japan are also exempted from the same.We need a referendum to have youth in Kenya enjoy tax holiday but a simple act of parliament to exempt Japanese from tax.

Japanese have their taxes reduced to almost zero yet we're about to be struck with cooking gas VAT.Who in Kenya do the members of Parliament represent?.

This happens as Kenyan employers face additional burden of statutory deductions if Parliament passes a Bill that requires business owners to match workers’ monthly contributions to the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF).
