Current Situation in Kisumu as Businesses Close Down Ahead of Presidential Results Announcements

The Electoral Body, IEBC is expected to announce the much-awaited Presidential results announcements any moment from now.

At the moment, hundreds of politicians, delegates and public officials are currently assembled at the Bomas of Kenya awaiting the final announcement from IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati.

Chebukati is expected to announce how the elections faired on in the 47 counties and finally announce who between the four presidential candidates won and declare him as Kenya’s 5th president elect.

In various towns and regions, Kenyans are ongoing on with their businesses as they wait the announcement. However, in Kisumu County, Raila’s home county, business is not as usual.

According to latest reports from the area, shops have been closed as locals throng the city in preparation for the announcement.

According to locals, since elections, businesses have not been good as previously and hence why they have chosen to close shops today to listen to the announcement.

In other parts such as Kondele, thousands poured into the Jomo Kenyatta Highway, some singing, some chanting Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party songs.
