Residents from the Rift Valley region now blast the Cabinet Secretary serving in the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Mithika Linturi. Mithika Linturi is now less than two months since he assumed office but he has been criticized for turning his back on farmers.

Perhaps, the Rift Valley region is known to be a good producer of Maize in the country. On Tuesday, the 22nd of November 2022, several tonnes of docks of imported maize were allegedly spotted in Mombasa. The move has provoked a lengthy debate among Kenyans as many go against it.

Additionally, the alleged move was done before the president put it on a public gazette. Consequently, a section of displeased farmers from Uasin Gishu slammed the Agriculture Cabinet Secretary for not considering the local farmers.

They said that they have millions of bags of Maize in their granaries but the government doesn't consider their interest.
