County audits are essential especially after new governors have taken over from the former leaders. Nakuru County which is under governor Susan Kihika is on the spotlight yet again due to some financial reasons.
The comptroller of the budget has revealed some shocking news about the finances of Nakuru County in the 2022/2023 financial year.
According to Daily Nation news reports, former Nakuru County governor Lee Kinyanjui might be in trouble as the county cannot account for Ksh 679 million shillings that was allocated in the 2022/2023 financial year.
The reports state that the finances were supposed to be used as follows: 25 million for Nakuru County Enterprise Fund, 120 million for bursary, 70 million for emergency fund, 404 million for Nakuru County Assembly car and mortgage loan and other for people living with disabilities.
"The Controller of Budget office did not receive any quarterly financial returns from Fund Administrators of funds, which is against the requirement of Section 168 of the PFM Act, 2012." Read part of the Controller of Budget report.
